Share the Warmth is a project administered by a town-wide group of people who hold various activities related to sustainability and keeping people warm. It is sanctioned by the Missions and Social Justice committee.
One of their ongoing activities is to collect donations of clothing, particularly warm jackets, hats, scarves and gloves, and other household articles such as blankets, comforters, sheets and towels from October through February. Then Food Pantry clients can come take whatever they like on Food Pantry distribution days.
They also provide financial aid up to $250 for emergency fuel needs for Ashfield residents; assist with simple weatherization measures in homes; and help identify local, low cost energy saving resources as reported in the Ashfield News. With a focus on sustainability, in the past the group has also provided workshops on vegetable gardening and preserving foods.
